Say What We Really Think?
I just watched a very interesting video interview on C-Span online from several weeks ago, in which an old acquaintance of mine who is a political reporter was fielding questions about the presidential campaign. I felt she did an excellent job showing all sides of the issues, despite the fact that she did say several times throughout, "I think...this and I think that..." I wasn't really aware of this until a viewer called in and commented on it, and it was a bit awkward that it was pointed out. But how do we avoid this, particularly if one is on a panel or in the spotlight and expected to express views and opinions, based on their expertise? When does "journalism" cross the line into "Op Ed ism," and isn't this OK as long as the framework is clear?
