I made a New Year's resolution this year to not watch "American Idol," and I am proud to say so far I have kept it. This was based on three main contentions:
1. Too time consuming. If you factor in the Tuesday night show, which necessitates watching the Wed night results show, it totals 1 1/2 hours a week, or 6 hours a month, time which I could spend much better cleaning my car, organizing my closet, calling a friend on the phone, catching up on e mail, trying out a new recipe, blogging, rearranging my plants, etc.
2. Sick of Ryan Seacrest's hair. This is self-explanatory.
3. Sick of Randy, Simon, and Paula's banterings. This is also self-explanatory.
One thing I do miss, however, is the singing, and by the time they get down to the last 3, you can be sure the singing is pretty good, I'll give the show that. So I may watch tonight, only for the priviledge of forming my own opinion and to congratulate myself on the 24 hours I have saved thus far. I may even have time to rearrange my plants afterwards.
